Lady Warriors celebrate championship softball season

The West Orange High varsity fastpitch softball team held its end-of-the-season

banquet at the Samba Room restaurant and said goodbye to seniors Taylor Fawbush, Jasmine Butler and Danielle Brewer.

Pictured at the varsity banquet are Lady Warriors (l-r): in front, Kelsey LaNeave, Danielle Brewer, Kelly Lopez, Emily Ross, Bree Brasch, Rachel Housego; in back, Missy Harvey, Taylor Fawbush, Jasmine Butler, Molly Billue and Val Proulx.

The Lady Warriors celebrated their second consecutive district championship in addition to claiming the Metro Conference title with a perfect, 10-0 record. West Orange advanced to the regional playoffs and picked up an opening-round win but fell in the quarterfinals, finishing the season with a 19-9 overall record.

Taylor Fawbush, Danielle Brewer and Jasmine Butler earned All-Metro Conference First-Team honors, while Val Proulx was named to the Second Team. The Lady Warriors also had three players — Fawbush, Brewer and Butler — selected to play in the FACA All-Star game in Ocala last month. WOHS Coach Bobby Brewer was selected as one of the coaches for the east team.

Signing college scholarships this spring were Fawbush (Florida Atlantic), Brewer (Pensacola Community College) and Butler (James Madison).

"The seniors we are losing Taylor , Danielle and Jasmine have been as good as you can get," Coach Brewer said. "We will have a tough time replacing them, but I am sure with what we have coming back and the fact our J.V. program has been so good the last two years, we will be ready to defend our championship again next year."
